— Joseph Marra —
President/Builder
Joseph Marra has been surrounded by residential construction his entire life. At MJ Builders, he manages the day to day operations of the business, overseeing sales, scheduling, purchasing, construction and warranty services. On a personal level, Joseph works directly with every client from contract signing through moving day. He enjoys the numerous aspects of the building process and the relationships that bring about unique and wonderful places to live.
A native of Northeast Ohio, Joe is a Human Resource Management graduate from Marietta College. Early on after graduation, he began as an Auto-Pro Agent for Progressive Insurance before entering the Human Resource world as the Director of Human Resources at Jennings Hall Center. He also acquired his Loan Officer License in 2003.
It wasn’t too long, though, before the realm of residential construction came back ‘knocking.’ Joseph refocused his business experience in the direction of his father’s sole proprietor building business, and in 1999, it translated into MJ Builders, Inc. Custom Homes.
Joseph is a Certified Green Builder and is active with the Cleveland Chapter of The Home Builders Association.

Building Supervisor
Joe Marra, Sr. is the backbone of MJ Builders. An Italian-born immigrant; Joe came to the United States when he was just 12 years old. Joe grew up with a very large family and was always working to help where he could… learning several trades along the way. At the age of 19, Joe built his first home and never looked back.
Joe is a Master Carpenter with the most extensive construction knowledge around. He was the driving force behind many construction firsts in Northeast Ohio communities including poured walls and mound septic systems. He also consults for several structural steel companies in the area. At MJ Builders, Joe is most often found on site supervising each project.
Although his construction knowledge is indispensable, MJ Builders’ clients and longstanding contractors find him essential for other reasons… his big heart, warm demeanor and storytelling talents.
— Melissa Marra —
Custom Home Designer
Melissa Marra has a keen eye for design and always has her finger on the pulse of industry trends. At MJ Builders, Melissa works with closely with clients to design floor plans and elevations that meet the client’s needs and expectations. Melissa oversees all project selections and allowance budgets. She enjoys the challenge of working a client’s wish list into their anticipated style and space.
At the age of 14, Melissa was introduced to the Marra family. She always had an appreciation for the building process and architectural design. Melissa graduated with a BA in Radio & Television from Marietta College and held positions at local television stations and newspapers before her communications and graphic design background led her to join the MJ Builders team in the area of selections and floor plan design. Today, she is designing complete blueprints and is a member of the American Institute of Building Design.
